The Department for Education has launched free job-related online courses covering numeracy, digital marketing, coding and internet skills.  The Skills Toolkit is a collection of training resources developed by The Open University, Futurelearn, Google and others to help people use the lockdown to build their skills for when recruitment starts again.  The Create a Professional Online Presence course could be particularly useful to polish up how you are representing yourself to future potential employers.

One of the most sought after key skills in all front office investment banking roles is financial modelling.  Courses to develop these can be expensive and with numerous providers in the marketplace it is difficult to work out which courses to sign up for. At the moment there are a number of free and discounted courses available which offer a great opportunity to make the most of a free resource as well as assessing the quality of the training to help you decide if it is worth investing in.

We have compiled the following list of free courses for you as a starting point:

There are also some massively discounted financial modelling Udemy courses – costs range from £12.99 – £18.99 with many more than the key ones listed below:

If you do try these courses or have any other courses you would recommend please do get in touch and let us know how you found them and why you would recommend them so that we can let others know.  Also, if you would like to discuss your individual situation and get an idea of what you could be doing at the moment to ensure you are ready for when recruitment picks up please email Philip Seager – philip@alan-mitchell.co.uk to arrange a call.
