Corporate Finance |
Corporate Finance can be classified in a number of different ways, and everyone in the City has their own definition for it. We have decided to break it down in the following way: Mergers & Acquisitions – this includes advising companies on making acquisitions, disposals and mergers; as well as Private Placements, where a company is advised on how to raise finance from private equity – such as Private Equity Funds, Venture Capitalists and Business Angels.
Equity Capital Markets – this is where a company is advised on raising finance on the stock market, either through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), or a secondary offering if already listed. There are three exchanges that companies can list on in the UK – the Main List of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), and Offex.
Debt Capital Markets – this is where a company is advised on raising money by buying debt; this can be via a large number of routes, using all sorts of weird and wonderful products constantly being devised by the various banks. |
